2013 Fiesta Bowl Kansas State vs Oregon Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The No. 5 Kansas State Wildcats will meet the fourth ranked Oregon Ducks tonight in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl. This evening's highly anticipated showdown between the two teams has a scheduled start time of 8:30pm ET at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. The latest 2013 Fiesta Bowl Kansas State vs Oregon Odds have Chip Kelly’s Ducks listed as a -8.5 against the spread favorite and the game total set at 74 points. Kansas State is drawing +260 moneyline odds ($100 wins $260) to win its 12th game of the season.

Hardly anyone outside of Manhattan, Kansas envisioned Kansas State winning the Big 12 this season, but the school’s detractors, most of whom picked the Wildcats for a sixth place finish in the 10 team conference, were proven wrong in a big way.

Bill Snyder worked some more magic in the Little Apple, building on last year’s surprise 10-3 campaign with a nearly perfect 11-1 season.

Most of Kansas State’s success derived from its incredibly efficient offense, which cranked out over 40.7 points per contest and featured a Heisman finalist in senior quarterback Collin Klein.

Kansas State had several big wins this season, but its signature victory came early on as it topped conference favorite Oklahoma 24-19 in Norman.

Oregon rode its offense to an 11-1 record as well, but it looked far different than Kansas State’s grind it out approach. The Ducks averaged over 50 points and 550 yards per game and they did so at their usual break neck pace.

Oregon also ranked second in the nation in rushing offense, churning out 323.3 yards per game on the ground as running backs Kenjon Barner and De’Anthony Thomas and quarterback Marcus Mariota combined for 3000 rush yards and 36 rushing scores.

Free Pick: Take Kansas State +8.5. This is one of the more difficult games to handicap given the overall strength of both clubs; however, a motivated Bill Snyder team getting 8.5 points is difficult to ignore. Both teams are getting a number of injured defensive players back, but the real key for the Wildcats will be avoiding a big hole. Baylor was the only team able to force K-State, which ranked first in the nation in turnover margin (+1.83 per game), into a pass first approach and it resulted in a lopsided loss for the Cats. Most of the season Klein and company dictated the pace, though, getting the lead and holding it with an effective and efficient offensive attack.

2013 Fiesta Bowl Odds: Kansas State vs Oregon

Kansas State Wildcats +8.5 (-110), Over 74 (-110), +260 (Moneyline)

Oregon Ducks -8.5 (-110), Under 74 (-110), -320 (Moneyline)
