The 2013 Belmont Stakes Field has some of the best horses in the world scheduled to run. The 2013 Belmont Stakes Odds for the race currently have Orb listed as the favorite to win the event, which will take place this Saturday at at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.
The race is open to 3-year-old thoroughbreds that weight 126 pounds and will run the 1.5-mile course. The Belmont Stakes is the third and final leg of the US Triple Crown, following exactly five weeks after the Kentucky Derby, and three weeks after the Preakness Stakes. Like the first two legs of the Triple Crown this race is run on Saturday, but never before June 5, nor after June 11. It is nicknamed "The Test of the Champion" but in this race here we don't have a horse that is going to be running for the Triple Crown.
Orb won the Kentucky Derby this year while Oxbow took home the Preakness this year. Both are scheduled to run in this race and are expected to be contenders to win at the Belmont Stakes. Union Rags won this race a season ago with a time of 2:30.42.
