2012 PGA Championship Second Round Start Time, Odds

Carl Pettersson took a one-shot lead after the first round of the 2012 PGA Championship on Thursday afternoon. The 2012 PGA Championship Second Round Start Time is slated for 1 p.m. and it will be televised nationally on TNT. Tiger Woods is still the odds-on favorite at 5-1.

Pettersson owns that one-shot lead over both Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano. Alex Noren, Gary Woodland and Rory McIlroy. Pettersson was able to take advantage of the course when he needed to, making six birdies overall and not having to score a bogey on the card all day. There are several players within a few shots of the lead, so it will be interesting to see just how Pettersson reacts to having the lead in a major.

Several other players were able to post good scores as well. Tiger Woods shot a 3-under par 69 which puts him in a big group with the likes of Ryo Ishikawa, K.J. Choi and Justin Rose to name a few. Tiger is expected to continue climbing up the leaderboard with a good day on Friday. He is still the odds-on favorite to win the 2012 PGA Championship at 5-1 odds.

Something seems to be, or is, wrong with Phil Mickelson, who shot another bad round at 73, which is 1-over par. Mickelson has struggled in majors so far this year to score low and score low consistently. Mickelson is being tabbed by the oddsmakers to continue struggling in the tournament, as he is now at 80-1 odds to win the 2012 PGA Championship, which actually isn't terrible for a player only seven shots off the lead with his talent and 54 holes still left to play in the golf tournament.

The 2012 PGA Championship is the fourth and final major of the season. Tiger Woods is still the odds-on favorite to win the event, which continues on Friday from the beautiful Kiawah Island Resort on the Ocean Course in South Carolina. This year marks the 94th time the PGA Championship will be played and television coverage will be provided in the United States by CBS and TNT, and in the United Kingdom by Sky Sports. The Ocean Course is set up to be a Par 72 and will play at just under 7,700 yards from first tee to the 18th green. There are four Par 5 holes on the course in No. 2, No. 7, No. 11 and No. 16 which play at an average of 577.5 yards. Last year the tournament was won by American Keegan Bradley on the Highlands Course at Atlanta Country Club. This is the first time the state of South Carolina has hosted a major championship, although back in 1991 Kiawah Island had hosted the Ryder Cup.
