The NBA Playoffs are just around the corner as 16 teams will attempt to play their way to the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat seem to be the odds-on favorites to win the NBA Title this season with several other quality clubs just behind them. The NBA is one of the most bet on sports in the United States and with the playoffs close to getting underway, betting will only pick up from where it is now.

A total of eight teams in each conference qualify for the post season. Each team that wins their division overall automatically qualifies (three in each conference) and then the next five teams record wise also make the playoffs. The first seeds play the eighth seeds, second play the seventh seeds and so on.

Odds to win the NBA Championship

Miami Heat +170
Oklahoma City Thunder +220
Chicago Bulls +250
San Antonio Spurs +360
Los Angeles Lakers +1000
Boston Celtics +1800
Los Angeles Clippers +1800
Memphis Grizzlies +1800
Indiana Pacers +2000
New York Knicks +3000
Dallas Mavericks +3500
Atlanta Hawks +5000
Denver Nuggets +5000
Orlando Magic +5000
Houston Rockets +7500
Philadelphia 76ers +7500
Phoenix Suns +7500
Utah Jazz +9000
Milwaukee Bucks +12500

The Miami Heat are considered by oddsmakers to be the team with the best chance to win the NBA Championship this season at +170 (Risk $100 to win $170). Only four teams currently have odds that are less than 10/1 in the Heat, Thunder, Bulls and Spurs. Outside of that, each team that is expected to make the post season is much higher than 10/1 odds, other than the Los Angeles Lakers, who are at 10/1 to win the NBA title.

Teams that are in the toward the bottom of the above list virtually have no chance to claim the NBA Title. The Bucks are 125/1 to navigate their way from the opening round of the playoffs to hoisting the trophy at the end. Utah Jazz are at 90/1.

Currently the Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks are not in the top eight places in their respective conferences. This is a direct correlation to why their odds are so bad. In fact, either the Rockets or Bucks will probably not qualify for the playoffs as they are fighting for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference.

The Dallas Mavericks, who won last season's NBA Championship, are currently sitting in seventh place in the West. They've gone through some problems this season but are extremely close to not even qualifying for the playoffs. The Mavs are just 5-5 in their last 10 games overall and have dropped their past two games in overtime. They also have four games remaining on their regular season schedule.

The above odds for the NBA Championship will change based on who makes the post season. It will also change in the future based on which teams are eliminated as the playoffs continue to march on toward the finals.
