The battle for Lord Stanley’s Cup is over as the Los Angeles Kings have won the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history with a 6-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils in game #6. If the odds makers at LVH in Las Vegas are correct, both teams, the Devils in particular, better savor the flavor of these finals. According to the renowned sports book, neither club is expected to win the Cup next season. Its recently released 2013 Stanely Cup odds and have the Pittsburgh Penguins listed as a 5-1 favorite to capture their second Stanley Cup in five seasons. The Canucks, Red Wings, Rangers, Kings, Blackhawks, Blues, and Flyers are all drawing 10-1 odds to take home the 2013 Stanley Cup. 

The 2012 NHL Playoffs have gone anything but according to plan, with the sixth seeded Devils and the eighth seeded Kings reaching the Stanley Cup Finals, but the Las Vegas Hilton is expecting some order to be restored next year. 

The Penguins, the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference this year, are expected to flourish with a healthy Sidney Crosby ready from the jump. St. Louis and Vancouver, the Western Conference’s top two seeds in this year‘s playoffs, are also viewed as viable contenders along with fellow conference squads Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles. 

The Rangers, after their surprising playoff dismissal at the hands of the Devils in the 2012 Conference Finals, are expected to be the Penguins biggest Eastern Conference challenger in next season’s run to the Stanley Cup.
