Every day I look at the NBA injury report. I start off with the first team and see who is listed on the report. Let's take a look at the first game on the board today which is New Orleans @ Indiana.
New Orleans has no significant injuries reported at the time I looked this morning so they get a 0, which in this case is good. Now, let's take a look at Indiana. The Pacers have Jermaine O'Neal and Jamaal Tinsley both listed as "OUT". O'Neal is averaging 15.3 points per game this year while Tinsley is averaging 11.9 points per game this season. Add that together and it comes up to 27.2 points per game. That is what the Pacers will be missing for this game. That is a 27.2 point differential in the injury results which makes me look at New Orleans in this game. If other things add up (Power ratings, trends, etc...), then I'll consider a play on the Hornets tonight. Usually any game with a 20 point or more differential is worth looking at.
Let's take a quick look at the San Antonio Spurs tonight. Robert Horry is listed as doubtful for tonight's contest. Horry is scoring only 2.5 points per game this year but it is possible he may play because he is not listed as "OUT". I take his points per game total, 2.5 and multiply it by .75 because most likely he is out but there is still that slim possibility he could play but even if that is so he is still hurt. A player that is questionable could go either way and a player that is probable is most likely to play but still that slim possibility they may not.
HERE IS MY TABLE FOR CALCULATING INJURIES:
OUT: Take players average points per game and multiply by 1
DOUBTFUL: Take players average points per game and multiply by .75
QUESTIONABLE: Take players average points per game and multiply by .50
PROBABLE: Take players average points per game and multiply by .25
Here are the results for tonight's NBA matchups.
New Orleans -0 points
Indiana -27.2 points
San Antonio -1.875
Orlando -0
LA Clippers -22.275
Dallas -27.1
Atlanta -0
Chicago -0
Charlotte -5.225
Utah -4.85
Washington -26
Portland -13.275
Hope this helps out some. This is 19-7 73% the past 26 where we have a differential of 20 or more and the trends add up to leaning to that same team. It takes a little time to do this every day but it pays off in the end!
Thanks and best of luck,
