Charlotte Bobcats @ Houston Rockets
The Bobcats made a terrible game against the Magic last Friday
scoring only 80 points. They were embarrassed at home in front of a
sellout crowd and I expect a better performance tonight. Head coach
Larry Brown has little tolerance for dumb basketball, and this was
dumb, selfish basketball. His team finished with more turnovers (16)
than assists (14):
"We didn't pass the ball. We wouldn't pass
the ball," Brown said, starting a monologue of three minutes. "We had
so many possessions where we had one pass and a shot. Or no pass and a
shot."
Calm but firm, he explained how his team didn't care to
share the ball Friday, how most possessions involved a single pass and
some involved no passes. Then Brown pointed out that Felton and
Augustin took 29 shots (making nine.)
Felton will try to bounce
back today after a dismal performance: "I didn't get us into the
offense,"; "Plain and simple, my fault."
I expect the Bobcats to
do a lot better today while being more focused in sharing the ball, of
course I don't expect them to hit the century mark points but remember
that we are dealing with a 182 points line. The Bobcats are getting
lower numbers on the road and they are 4-0 Over L4 road games mainly
due to those low numbers. When they failed to score more than 80 points
in the season the Over is 6-3 which tells us that they usually give a
better effort in the following game.
Today they will face the
Rockets that are coming from a nice win against the Mavericks in a very
physical game. They won 93-86 in a low scoring game and facing a lowly
team I expect them to be more focused in the offense. Offensively, the
Rockets want to use Brooks' and Lowry's speed more, not just in fast
breaks, but in getting into their halfcourt offense:
"We're
trying to push the ball up and not walk the ball up," Adelman said.
"The people we have off the bench, the two point guards we have, it's
to their advantage to get it up the court. And if nothing is there ?
then we've got Yao as our anchor. He's a guy we can go to at the end.
And it helps him (to) where he doesn't have to try to get down the
court and get banged every possession..."
The Rockets are 15-5
Over off a home win this season and this is the kind of game that the
Rockets can "relax" a bit because they have in their desk tough games
vs Portland and Cleveland after this game and I can see this game going
above the 190's points. Take the Over in here.
