Weekend recap!
England Premier League:
- The top of the table became congested with Manchester City and Arsenal being held to draws. Manchester City traveled to face Aston Villa in the managerial debut of Remi Garde, who came over from Olympique Lyon. The French manager sat back deep and absorbed everything the Citizens could throw at them.
- Arsenal hosted Tottenham in the North London derby and played to an exciting 1-1 draw. It was a chance lost for the Gunners, as they saw Manchester City draw earlier in the day, and Arsenal could have went to the top of the heap with a win. Much credit to Tottenham, as they are playing hard and sit 5th in the table, only three points off of a Champions League spot.
- The surprise team of the season, Leicester, continued their run with another win and are third (!!!), only one point from the top!
- On the other end of the spectrum, Chelsea dropped another game, this time on the road to Stoke City. Jose Mourinho wasn't present after serving a suspension, but he's still the one that has to answer the questions. Currently, the Blues are only three points above the relegation zone. Crazy...
Spanish Primera:
- Real Madrid lost their first game on the season in all competitions. They traveled to Sevilla and joined Barcelona on the list of Titans to fall in front of that marvelous crowd. Madrid opened the scoring on a bicycle kick golazo from Sergio Ramos, but in the process of that kick, Ramos injured his shoulder and had to leave. Sevilla went on to score three unanswered goals and take the points.
- Barcelona's 3-0 win over Villarreal leaves them sitting alone on the top of the table. Neymar's two goals also saw him go to the top of the league's Top Scorer chart.
