These refs are under a very watchful eye and every mistake scrutinized. I may suggest that it is tougher to skew the outcome of games involving odd shaped balls. Totals maybe more so can be affected, but side play would be difficult. Esp. w/ instant replay. The main complaint is the proficiency in which games are being called, or so it seems.
I may further suggest, that I think the odds are greater w/ a seasoned ref who has more knowledge of game fixin and connections to benefit. It takes time to build confidential connections, and the price is very steep for such an infraction, which I am certain that current refs have been informed.
So, in contrary, I believe that the risk is actually lower w/ the replacement refs d/t all the scrunity that surrounds fixing a game and being under a very watchful eye, and replays galore that opt for overturn.
.........which brings me to the most potent of potential abusers, the replay official. he/she is in the most powerful position to take or not take a stand and effect outcome.
Personally, I would not know how to go about "fixin" a game, or dare have the cahones if I was placed in such a position.
Two sports w/ known abusers and are in a very influential position. The MLB home umpire is the epitome of how a game can be fixed and BB refs w/ errorenous calls can affect outcome d/t players fouling out, or crucial calls late and put on line.
In closing, I think the current refs are being asked to call a fair game at best, at amist bogus calls and tossed hankies, seem to not be lopsided in it's inagural conception.
Do I think they are doing a good job? No.
Don't get me started on what I think of unions (oh brother)........
