The best thing the NFL could do is be more open and transparent with its handling of officials. These guys get paid six figure salaries for a part time job - if they can't handle a public review of their performance Im certain the NFL can find qualified people who could handle it.
The problem the NFL has right now isn't one of integrity - it is one of competency which combined with institutionalized hubris creates a PR image of games being "fixed". Transparency is always the better move.
What is the downside of the NFL being as open with whether or not and/or to what degree Corrente and his crew are reprimanded for that performance yesterday as it is with fines and suspensions of its players?
