Well, the free selection yesterday took a dump. What is maddening is that is frankly could have, should have, and all that useless crap. The Heat went up 13 with a couple minutes to go and then went through the motions toward the end and the Pistons came right though the back door. We've all seen it hundreds of times and it's just part of doing business when you choose to wager on the NBA.
Today in sports history sparked a helluva great memory. It was on this date in 2001 that singer Jimmy Buffet was ordered by NBA referee Joe Forte to give up his court side seat for his use of profanity. After a several minute delay action was resumed by the Heat and Knicks. I don't know what Jimmy said but it must have been some hall of fame verbal assaulting. The memory I speak of occurred back at Moberly Jr College in the late 60's. The late Cotton Fitzsimmons was coaching the Moberly Greyhound Jr College team. He actually led them to back to back national titles. Anyway, I was constantly at the gym, both at his practices and the games. We lived just up the street from the gym. One night during a game a guy was really riding Cotton relentlessly. Finally Cotton had enough, during a timeout he went over to the man and took him by the shirt and led him to his seat on the bench. The guy was wide eyed, Cotton told him if he could coach the club better to have at it. Cotton then went over to the guys seat behind the bench and sat down next to his girl friend. Took a swig of the guys soda and put his arm around the girl and told the guy to coach the blankety blank team himself. It was hilarious. I was sitting there, maybe 7 or 8 just soaking it in with my dad. The players were all snickering too. After a couple of minutes the loud mouth walked off the floor to a chorus of boo's and vanished into the hallway. Cotton gave the girl a kiss on the cheek and returned to the bench and coached the Hounds to another victory.
Okay, onward. Tonight for a free selection I am turning to college and suggesting a wager on #522 TCU as they host Texas and are catching 9 points as a home dog. On the business side I do have a Triple in play tonight. No, it's no lock. But my clients know I hit these far more often than not. And have for several years now. I don't do big plays every day. Wish I could but I am not a sharp enough handicapper to spot the opportunities every day. Many sincere thanks as always and best of luck with your action guys. Enjoy the games!
