Think more about going Over the total this season in the NHL. The league would like to see higher scoring games and so they put in new rules that should assure this.
The most publicized rule is the anti-slashing one. The NHL really wants to cut slashing way down. It's going to take time for defenses to adjust to this. During exhibition games minor slashes were called. So this is going to be enforced giving teams more power play opportunities.
There are other rules, too, that should help to make higher-scoring games.
Teams that lose an offside challenge will be penalized two minutes now instead of just a time-out. Referees will be clamping down more on faceoffs, too. If a team is guility of messing up twice during a faceoff, a two minute penalty will be assessed. The size of goalie equipment will be scrutinized more also.
No longer will timeouts be allowed for icing the puck. This forces tired skaters to stay on the ice with a faceoff in the offense zone immediately occurring following the icing.
The NHL season opens today. I've turned a tidy profit each of the last two years in the NHL and have a Double Star Totals play going today along with my Triple Star Baseball Playoff Total of the Week. I finished 18-8-1 on my last 27 hockey plays last season and am 14-5 on my past 19 Triple Stars.

Best of luck as always and let us suffer no bad beats!
