Ghosting is against the rules.
Ghosting has not been aggressively moderated in the past.
Identifying ghosting is not always 100% - sometimes factors can produce a false positive.
I very much appreciate mod 1's no BS approach to moderation - the community is about helping each other win, and drama gets in the way of that.
Yet, in this case he jumped the gun. Since the technology is less than 100%, making decisions on technology alone is not enough.
Here's what we are going to do - all bans from today were based on insufficient evidence - so they are lifted. As I've dug into this, the respected names that would be a surprise to be a ghost poster have turned out to have reasons for the false positive. A mistake made in the effort to improve the community is still a mistake - please accept our apology.
Starting RIGHT THIS SECOND - when our technology monitor notifies us of ghost posting, there will be a private investigation. Proven ghost posters will be banned for life (with a public announcement).
This decision addresses any mistake Mod 1 made today, while establishing a zero-tolerance policy moving forward. Time to move on.
