Really Steve? A total goes from 72 to 74 and you take it down? Is 73 a magic number? Do 3 points mean that much in a game predicted to play into the 70's? I'm exaggerating to make a point, and hate to see lazy people that become whiners and complainers dictate policy. Please read on, thanks.
Let's digress and get down to an issue that warrants a legitimate discussion.....
As far as I can tell, there are three lines movers out there. I think we all know who they are.....Dr. Bob, RAS, and Andre Gomes. When these handicappers put out a game there are instant line moves, we've all seen it 100+ times. Are you one of those guys? Maybe, maybe not, but for sake of argument let's say that Fezzik is one of those lines movers and go from there.
It's safe to say that two strategies are in play with the movers. Dr. Bob and Andre anticipate the line moves and actually give out a range with their plays (If the o/u in an NBA game is 202, Andre will say it's a play from 202-204, and Dr. Bob will do the same and also change up his units designations....Ohio State -13.5 is a 2 star play and OSU -14-15 is a one star play and at -16+ it is a strong opinion). RAS is a cocky bunch and they not only move lines, they beat closing lines, and they revel in it.
Here's the rub...they never ever take down a play, and in my humble opinion.....neither should you.
What's the problem? Some internet keyboard warriors complain because they got to the party late? That's just too bad. Like I said, hate to see lazy whiners and complainers get their way.
Personally, I am a faithful Gomes guy. And yes, I am keyed up and ready to hit my computer at the exact moment he puts out his plays. That's just how it is. And yes, if I miss his email by 5 minutes I get a worse number. That's just how it is. Complaining about it isn't going to change a thing, and in my opinion, it shouldn't.
Steve, take the next step and stick to your guns. If you are going to move numbers or make plays ahead of predicted moves......be proud of that and stand by your calls. Are people going to bitch and whine? You bet! But hey, they'll get over it and adapt or they'll just have to move on.
When you get to be a major player, in any field, your motive sometimes shifts to most of the people most of the time instead of some of the people some of the time. You're there Steve, cater to the masses and leave the complainers and whiners in your wake.
Now, I will say that Andre especially, has his methods down to a science. He sends out warning emails (usually 2 minutes) about when he will be posting his plays and sure enough, he fires away and you have to be ready. And yes, if you miss that warning blast you will surely be off by a point here and there. THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS.
Take that step Steve! Your customers will respond. Your following will react.
I'll put it into terms I think you like.......years ago nobody 3 bet, 4 bet, and sure as heck didn't 5 bet preflop, but these days that is just a normal occurrence in a 1-3 game! The whiners have had to adjust or get smoked. Be one of the aggressors Steve, announce your plays with a 5-10 minute warning via email, fire away and never look back. Give out a range, anticipate a line move, and put out your plays. Most of the people most of the time will adapt and there won't be any noise or friction. Some of the people some of the time will whine and complain, and that's just the way it goes.
Best wishes for picking winners -
Joe D
p.s. Please don't use the Pregame format, the Pregame this or the Pregame that as some sort of reason for taking a game down. You've operated outside the lines here for years and if this is another case of that, then just go for it. Thanks, and Good Luck!
