This from Vinny....
"He wins year after year and all he gets is hate after hate. You should all be ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES."
This from jakedittler.....
"And he only gets a thank you when he has a winning day. And hate when he doesn't."
Could you two be more wrong about what he "gets"??
How many people do you guys think bought that $25 Super Bowl package? You two are obviously experts in the field, enlighten us with your vast knowledge and let the rest of us know how many $25 packages Fezzik sold.
I'm no expert, certainly nowhere near the level of genius that you two gifts to Pregame have reached, but it seems to me that what Fezzik "gets" is MONEY. What's a conservative number of packages sold? 400? Get your calculators out fellas....that's 10k for RJ and Fezzik to carve up. Do you really think a couple of negative comments (or positive comments) from some keyboard warriors really have any effect whatsoever on intelligent, professional, experienced handicappers like Fezzik or RJ?
Let's take this to a different level....
At times, once you reach a very high level of competency, sports handicapping can reflect poker in so many ways. Guys like Fezzik see the angles better than most and when the odds are in their favor they bet accordingly. But just like poker, sometimes you can make all the right plays, make all the right decisions, and still lose the hand. There are times when you will get someone to call your biggest bet when you have aces and they have J9 off-suit and sure enough they hit a straight. It seems like that happened yesterday in the Super Bowl......Steve made all the right decisions, made the right plays, and then somebody hit a two-outer on the river and he lost the hand.
Here's the rub.....everybody at the table would call the guy that called with J9 off a donkey...and they'd be right. I've seen it 100's of times...donkey plays get emotional and words fly....some of those words are laced with hate. It happens! The people that are intelligent and can control their emotions (Like Steve), know that they made the right play, would make the same play again, and move on very quickly. The people at the table that are less skilled in emotional control and big picture thinking spout off seemingly endlessly about the donkey play and make themselves look ridiculous, short-sighted, and immature (Like so many in this thread).
Ridiculous outbursts that follow the inevitable variance in sports handicapping, as well as poker, carry very little to zero weight with experienced intelligent gamblers. Sure, variance stings, but wise people don't let it bother them, and for the most part tune out the inane noise that comes from the unfortunate few that don't understand variance and can't control their keyboards.
Carpe Diem -
