My wife is half Irish and half Italian. We did Italy, next Ireland. Any suggestions? How are they toward Americans?
How are they towards the Americans? Hospitality is second to none.......
Was in Istanbul, Turkey sept. 2002 just a few days from the 09/11 1st annniversary. The war had already started, although official annoucement had not be made. The islands and staging in Turkey were going full blast and anti-american sentinism was all time high. I was unaccompanied and solo and to say things were tense is an understatement. I was clutching my back pack strap like my old m-16 rile and the glaring look of the townspeople was disturbing (and furthermore there was no place to get an adult beverage).............
Had a rogue rug dealer put a loaded 9mm to my head and started talking jibberish about killing an american. Now, John, I'm 6-2, and was a built 220 then and to understand how the ottomon empire kicked ass during all those years was made immediate by how big and hairy these guys were. another story, but I dont fold under pressure........... & of course going through border in Turkey and Russia was some hanky ass shit too in where they took my wallet and helped themselves.......
So, I'm like "F" this shit man, and hitch a ride to the airport terminal to buy a ticket to dublin, ireland before the shit hits the fan and I turn into a war reporter. Of course my back pack got conviently lost........... but arrived in safe harbor and partied hard in Dublin that night - fer sure. Toured the guiness plant and they give you 2 tickets for a frosty cold one fresh off the tap..... well everyone gave me their tickets and partied w/ some lovely ladies and was finally escorted out the back after hours by the janitor. - good times..........
Rented a car and toured the island, some highlights:
Galway - I just stared West and pondered how many ships have cross that ocean. JFK park, and got introduced to the word "manky."
Lisdorvorna - actually arrived during their match maker festival, picked up two asian hotel workers and got free stay and food for a couple of days; of course one was gay and tried to play, but RBF don't swing datta way.......
(also some stops at cliffs of moyer - which in sept. was colder than witches tit in brass bra)
On the eve of 09/11, I parked my euro rental at the far western north edge in achilles head and slept in my car. remote and peaceful......
.......some other stuff, belfast was at a bar and got checked by heat packing bald headed bouncers to remove my hat; they were still blowing cars up back then and actually met sean finn.......... but in the bar, I was taking a wiz and an older gent who was playing banjo is shaking his lizard and starts commenting on me being from america. before the next set starts, he blindside tackles me to the ground and we roll around a bit and I pin him down, he buys me a couple of beers, states that if it wasn't for the american's "we we all be speaking German now." Danced will all the beautiful ladies till daybreak........ good times (I gave the banjo player my "sickies" baseball gap from my middle age softball team and he wore it proudly).....
I had to get back to dublin for return flight to the states, and stayed in a hostel where I roomed w/ 11 young french girls. Of course, they just run around in their panties giggling (no tops or anything else)..........
I missed my flight home and had to reschedule..............
This brief article barely touches the full experience of ireland, but I had a good time and the irish and american flag fly side by side as far as i'm concerned !!

And on your other post agree about Paris for your girlfriend and Prague for a boys weekend (been to Prague countless times now - casinos / escorts / drinks / caisnos / escorts / drinks...bit of a vicious circle RBF!!)
