Scott - Thought I'd "kill two birds with one stone."
1. May you and your family have a Merry, Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year!
2. Do you remember,
Jerry Kilgore? Jerry lived and did business out of Van Nuys, CA. (I think) Jerry owned and was a "hands on" owner/operator of The J.K. Sports Journal. The Journal, if you remember or not, was a free national scoreboard, and at one time, for many years, Jerry was " the" biggest and most trustworthy and accurate scoreboard and line providers in the world. I think his lines came out in football on A sunday night, with the exception of the MNF Game. Of course when the industry changed and Jerry did not, as I'm sure he retired before his death, a wealthy man. I bought his orignal eqipment and started a scorebeard and lineservice based here in New Orleans, using a local radio station WWL A.M. 870 as my sponsor, and hired Tulane students to give out the scores and lines exactly like Jerry did. but could not compete with the new Nevada Rotation Schedules that soon followed Jerry's retiring. When Jerry was peaking in his business, every sportsbook in Nevada used his rotation numbers (before sportsbooks entered the casinos). He never went to bed until the last game in every major sport, usually Hawaii, was over. I never caught him giving a bad score. He was a tireless worker and certainly should anyone ever write a book on "Sports Gambling in the U.S. From All Aspects", Jerry Kilgore should not be forgotten. Did you remenmber him and/or The J.K. Sports Hournak/Scorephone?
Keep up the great work here at Pregame Scott! "First Preview" remains # 1 in every local sports bar in New Orleans and Baton Rouge that plays it over their sound systems the next day. Mr.Tony certainly is a refreshing addition to the menu! And of course RJ and his founders never cease to amaze me. Thank you!
