Quite simple actually. Trolls are not normal people. Most everyone knows that. They are what Gamblers Anonymous was built on. Today was an absolutely prime example frankly. After SEVEN straight winning basketball featured releases the streak finally comes to it's inevitable end, and here they come out of the woodwork. Trolls sit in the background saying nothing until it serves their purpose. They are generally frustrated gamblers who have reckless habits and money management is something completely alien to them. Of course it is never acceptable to them to look in the mirror and accept any responsibility for their own actions. It is much easier to attack the mean "tout". And although most people respect long term success, these types don't have that kind of attention span. Even when a handicapper tries to stress to them that bad days, weeks or yes, even seasons happen to all handicappers at some point if they are in the business long enough, the troll simply will have nothing with that. Does not want reality. They insist on the capper that never loses. That mythical creature in their minds that wins they that easy money. I could go on and on because it is the seedy side of the business rarely exposed. Because most of us, as pro handicappers just take the high road. Trolls are a unfortunate fact of life in the business. Much like when you walk into a bar. There are many responsible folks there who know how to handle their liquor and drink responsibly. Of course then there are the bar room drunks. Yes, usually the loud and obnoxious guys. The ones with the big mouths who like to blame anyone and everyone for their own shortcomings. Lord forbid they look in the mirror. Everyone generally just puts up with their rambling nonsense until someone has to ask them to leave. Trolls are the same thing. They have no ability to handle a bankroll. They blow it up and look to lash out.
The truth is I have reached out and tried to help people like this in the past. But the stubborn fact is people have to want to help themselves before you can ever have any success helping them. The good side to all this is the vast majority of people around here are good, logical and contributing members of the community RJ created. They get the big picture. Much like the responsible men at the bars who are capable of having a few cocktails and then going home. Not the sloppy drunks who do not know when to say when. Most people say oh just ignore them. And I generally do. But like a spoiled insufferable child sometimes they need to be dealt with. You see a screaming kid throwing a tantrum in the mall and you want the parent or responsible adult to pull them aside and deal with it. Sadly, kind of the same deal.
I assure you I do not lose any sleep over trolls. But sometimes they do need to be exposed for what they truly are. I am only saying what many around here have asked me to say before when they saw some pro getting assaulted by trolls. RESPECTFUL conversation has always been the goal here. Kind of curious how RJ has created this community for sports bettors and most appreciate and participate. But the trolls like nothing more than to be critical of it and attack it. Yes, curious how they cannot seem to stay away. Many trolls are not even actual clients. They simply like to try and create trouble for the sake of creating trouble.
Anyway, there is nothing that will ever be said that will alleviate the problem. They are a sad fact of life with the business, just goes with the territory. The owner of the local loves the clientele who can frequent his place and behave responsibly. He knows the loud mouthed creeps that have to be show the door when they get out of line are just an unfortunate part of the deal as well. Much the same here guys. I am certain after this there will be plenty frothing at the mouth trying to go on their attack again. It's just how they are wired.
To those who do get it. You are the foundation on which this place exists. And it is appreciated. Sports gambling, or any gambling is meant for responsible adults. Men who know their are risks involved. That bad swings happen, to everyone. Congratulations for getting it. Some stubbornly refuse to. Deflecting blame onto others is their easy way out. Beats the hell out of looking in the mirror.
Take care guys. Best of luck with your action sunday.
