Here is the website for St. Baldricks if you would like to make a donation in the memory of The Doughboy. Thank you ! Every year our school joins in - the kids - the teachers - the parents - the shaving of the heads is a huge event with local barbers coming to the school to do the deed.
Most of the participants know someone who has succumbed to childhood cancer and hold a sign with their name as their hair is being cut. I have lost two 4th graders from my classes over the years. Such bright lives lost - such heroic efforts to fight their cancer. One went real fast - the other battled it for several years, thought she had it beat, only for it to rear its ugly head over a summer vacation and take her young life.
