"With my 1% bankroll = 1 unit betting strategy, the majority of my book options offers on a regular basis a 10%, 25%, or 50% odds boost for a range of hockey, baseball, and basketball bets where the books' max bet on the special is greater than my 1%. I've tried to my fullest to use this bonus when I've made bets, but now I'm thinking if there's a way to refine it into a more distinct strategy across the different sports."
I wanted to bring this value convo from your mlb parlay post over to this thread and explore further..
previously started online betting 10 years ago didn't do well, very undisciplined. didn't last long. got back in thanks to the pandemic, legalization of online betting, an existing draftkings fantasy account, and easy of sign up (didn't have to go to a casino to register). I've tried to gamble with more discipline and to incorporate the various ideas related to disciplined betting (1 unit = 1% of bankroll, flat betting (i make a lot of plays), have multiple outs to get the best number, pass on bets that have moved big against me or past a key number (there will always be more bets tomorrow), dogs can win too, minimize parlay/teaser use, and taking advantage of matched fund offers, using referrals (+2), and taking advatage of every boost/promo offered but not falling for bad value ones, and keeping track of my bets (should use a spreadsheet but I like paper). I have had more success as well as less stress related betting fevers.
I'm not sure what books you use but DK and BetRivers consistently offer odds boosts across (NBA, CBB, MLB, NHL) of 10, 20, 25, and 50 percent. FD and PointsBet have various bet insurances. All have occasional "free money" (spread the love) and deep value specials. The last, what I call, deep value bets was with PB where they offered "will the WSox score 1 or more runs in their first game" @ +100 max bet $25. I have lost some of those too (McGregor +100 from -300 and Gonzaga +4.5 -110) Now, that's only 1/4 of a unit (larger for my bankroll) but I've seen maxes of 50 and 100 on others, but the little units add up over the course of a year. And, in the end, lower the W/L percentage I need to break even.
From reading your posts, it's easy to tell that you really get into the numbers crunching, percentages, and value. But do you also use the boosts/specials to your advantage or have those types of offers?
Lately, PointsBet has become the main site I use because they are consistently offering the best odds across all my books (dk, fd, rivers, and WHill). If you live in CO, IL, IA, IN, MI, or NJ, it's available to sign up. William Hill has been the most disappointing.
