61 years ago today on easter Sunday 21 year old Rock n Roll Legend Eddie Cochran was killed in an automobile accident on his way to Heathrow airport after finishing his England tour. Cochran only had just one album but he holds a special place in Rock N Roll history. When Eddie died Rock N Roll in the states was allready on life support Chuck Berry & lil richard in prison, Elvis drafted into the Army, Jerry Lee Lewis Blackballed, Ritchie Valens & Buddy Holly dead.. Cochran was pretty much the last man standing and his death pretty much put the proverbial nail in Rock N rolls coffin. But He was very popular in England and His music & Death (in England) catapulted him into iconic status in my opinion he was instrumental (pardon the pun) in saving Rock n Roll as his music (and others) influenced thousand of young British kids to pick up guitars and Revive The dying genre in what would be called The “British invasion” In fact, Cochrans “20 Flight Rock” is first song Paul McCartney played when he first met and auditioned for john Lennon in which they would ultimately formed a pretty good Rock n Roll band themselves ![](/cfs-filesystemfile/__key/communityserver-components-imagefileviewer/filetypeimages_2E00_/unknown.png_2D00_1040x50.png?_=637940759130596133)
We could only wonder what could’ve been, one album and just 21 years old. We could say the same for alot of young musicians who left us to soon or died with there boots on (on the road) so this ones for you Eddie with eyes dripping and glass full.. remember..
ROCK N ROLL NEVER FORGETS!
