Yeah I’m sure stoking the “trump knows better than the scientist” thing is a great idea.
What could possibly go wrong?
Trump is weighing whether or not the cure is worse than the disease. What can go wrong is that if he listens to the scientists and makes the US go on lockdown for 3 months (as it is right now), the US will be in a depression for a very long time. NO amount of stimulus will make the US recover. 20%+ unemployment. Even larger federal deficits. Small businesses to never open again due to the shutdown. It's bad enough that US corporations (esp. banks) are heavily in leveraged debt.
If you were president, do you lock down the US? Or take your chances and allow those who can work to go to work (and let the higher-risk folks stay at home)?
Twittertards love blaming Trump for every error he supposedly makes (or doesn't make), but it's not easy being in his shoes right now. It's not like the press will give Trump the same leeway with Barack, where the MSM made every excuse on why his economic recovery numbers were so low (and basically gave him a free pass on why Obamacare really, really sucked while the insurers got away with robbery).
Don't get me wrong - this stimulus bill stinks. The RepubliCrats have made this a free for all for anyone that didn't save for a rainy day. And Trump is as every bit guilty of Obama for letting the Fed/Treasury/Congress have free reign over the money supply in exchange for votes.
As I see the layoffs mount because of this d@mned Chinese bioweapon that got leaked, I feel bad for those that lost their jobs in the service/retail/tourism/manufacturing industry because they're screwed in their job prospects simply because closed businesses don't hire people. As a result of all this, I'd much rather see society take their chances and treat the Chinese bioweapon like the flu. This Chinese bioweapon is never going away, and it's only going to adjust because that's what it was engineered to do.
