Great post Spartan. thanks for sharing these memories of your dad. This post is much needed. My dad turned 90 years young today and Were having a big surprise party for him this weekend. Like Langeos dad, He was/is a man of few words he served in the USAF for 20 years and has seen alot through Korea and also Vietnam. I didn’t understand Why he never said much to me when I was young but I have learned to understand. The stuff he must’ve seen. He tried and did his best and for that, i’m grateful. He took me to my first baseball game in 78’ to see the California Angels, with the rest of my little league team. He reminded me years later that it was the great Nolan Ryan who I witnessed on the mound that night for my very first baseball game. I’ll never forget my first memory of my first game with my buddies and my pops. Love you dad Happy Birthday!
Heres a pick & thoughts my niece shared of him at the world series a few years back (LA VS HOU) via Social media.
“My Grandpa at the World Series With my brothers and cousins feeling all the feels. Knowing a dream of his is coming true and he is there to experience it. He made his first bet on the (Brooklyn) Dodgers in 1955 When they played the NY Giants- He had just come back from the war and was living in New York, he said “you were either a Dodger fan or a Giants fan.” “I bet $20 on the Dodgers and they won!” I know who he’s betting on today. ? This will be a memory and story we will share for years to come. The smile he has today is priceless.
-Thanks guys I know this was long but hey, he’s 90 he deserves the shoutout!
thanks again,
