With all the back and forth bickering I thought I’d share something positive that hopefully many can relate to. It was on this date on lost my best friend. Who also happened to be my dad. I was blessed. Many guys feel like they had incredible fathers and I think that’s great. That’s the way it should be. My dad was named Leon. He was a strong man in many, many ways. He was a veteran. US Naval Air Corps. After the service he became a very successful realtor and developer. He was always there for my brother, sister and I. He was my first baseball coach. He was an excellent ball player himself. He taught me to hunt. Deer, quail, rabbits. He was always busy with work but made family time a priority. Never missed any of my games all through high school. Took me to my first Cardinals baseball game. I was only 9 but thought it was the coolest thing ever. So much so I saved my paper route money and lawn mowing money and actually bought tickets to 12 games the next season to surprise him. We resided 150 miles from St Louis but details like that didn’t much enter my mind. I’ll never forget the look on his face when those tickets came in the mail. But, he took me to every one of those games. We later called it the Cardinals summer. I told that story at dads funeral. I could go on and on with stories about this man. But the point is although I think of him daily this date always has special meaning. If you still have your dad, be thankful. Don’t ever take it for granted. If you yourself are a father, give it your all. 100% of the time. It’s the most important job you will ever have. If you have a special memory of your dad and sports feel free to share. I’d sincerely like hearing it. He left us on Feb 11, 1999. Hardly seems possible. Time is to special a commodity to waste fellas. Take care. Steve

"Tittle to Schoffner"--- "Norwood Wide Right".
Great Memories! WE bled blue together,,,,,Thanks Dad!
My father was in a coma for 16 days in 2018. Family had essentially given up hope. He survived. Now I spend all of my available time with him. What a wake up call. We leave for Cubs spring training in sunny Arizona next week. We will probably barely watch the baseball games. I’m more than elated to just converse and laugh with him at the Cubs. I’m incredibly blessed to still have him here. I won’t waste any time in his remaining years.
