Normally I would take both wins and losses in silence. Today is different because something didn't feel right. I live in Nevada and can take advantage of William Hill's sportsbook from the comfort of my living room. I bet hundreds and not thousands and thank goodness for that!
It was a busy day around here yesterday and I felt quite alone today as I lost my bet on Iowa (-9) first thing this am. I'm not going to bore you with a bad beat story. Enough has been written about that game already. On to the next one right? A close friend of mine is an Oregon St alum and I seldom bet on their games to avoid friction. Today was different. The mighty webfeet were coming to Corvallis vs the not so mighty Beavers.
The under 69 1/2 was too good to pass up. How could the Beaver's score in double digits? If the Ducks scored under 59 this was easy $$$! It's 21-3 Oregon at the half and I'm counting my $$$. I also couldn't resist lunking on the Ducks -18. Again when it's 41-9 in the fourth quarter I'm doing the victory dance in my kitchen while loading up on turkey day leftovers.
A few meaningless Duck TD's and an even more meaningless Beaver TD in the waning seconds gives OSU 15 points and my under 69 1/2 is dead (55-15). We've all been there and I'm not complaining. Shit happens! I still have the Ducks -18 to sooth my wounds. NOT! I kept waiting for the $$$ to enter my account. It doesn't... I call William Hill support and after 15 minutes of torture I'm told my bet was on Oregon St +18. I wouldn't have made that bet on my death bed! Even the bet in my account history said I had Oregon not Oregon St. The lady on the phone assured me I had Oregon St because of the bet number. William Hill makes it almost impossible to make an incorrect bet but apparently I did. I'll sleep on this tonight and maybe pursue it further in the am. In the mean time please pass the Alka Seltzer!
