I remember how I always made a point to read his daily Point Blank articles 100%
of the time. But now I realize that I really read his articles 110% of the time
because every day I would inevitably re-read a sentence or two that were just so
beautifully stated that I would read them again just to let the beauty of the
phrasing sink in. The ability to convey a thought or concept with such elegance
made me wish I could write that well.
I never met Dave but I am sure that I will never forget him. In the future, whenever I am
watching one of those smaller conference basketball games on a weekend and I
see a bad referee call, I will scream at the TV. And I will pause. And I will smile.
And I will look upwards. And I will wink. Because I know where the good referees
are.
And then I will fondly remember a person I never met. RIP good sir, the ink you
left behind was indelible.
