Vegas Butcher Bio
Betting History
I started betting in the early 2000’s, when I was in college. During that time, betting was more of a ‘fun’ activity, something to make watching random games more enjoyable. I realized fairly early on that you are not going to make a lot of money, if any at all, betting this way. I learned that bookmakers utilize advanced algorithms, models if you will, to set their odds/spreads/totals and it became apparent that in order to be competitive in this business, one had to do so as well. Once I grasped the basic concepts it was time to start building out models myself. The key for me was learning and understanding ‘advanced sports statistics’, and those became the backbone of all my statistical models, which I use extensively for sports betting to this day.
Pick Selling History
I started selling sports-picks in 2012. The difficult part for me was managing my handicapping and advanced-stats modeling time, with marketing, website design, and customer service. The opportunity at Pregame.com fits me perfectly, as they excel in all three of those latter components, providing me with an opportunity to focus exclusively on my handicapping and interaction with members of the Pregame community. I’m motivated to provide excellent insight, detailed analysis, and most importantly, winning plays for my clients. My drive to succeed is second to none, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing my success with the community.
Winning Results
Since posting my picks and records in the public forums , I’ve gone 2,354 – 2,045 for a 54% winning percentage over the years, good for +118.4 Units of profit. I’m very proud of this career mark, as I know first hand how hard it is to attain a ‘winning’ record in sports betting. (updated 8/3/2015).
Handicapping Style
My handicapping style relies on advanced statistical modeling, in-depth situational analysis, and fundamental understanding of motivational angles. I believe it’s very important to understand where the odds/spreads/totals come from by the bookmakers, and to have a strong grasp for those numbers. My ability to decipher whether or not there’s “value” in a particular line, gives me a strong edge over a lot of handicappers. Furthermore, I believe it’s very important to stay humble, to be open to others’ feedback, and most importantly, to always be willing to learn. There are a lot of great “new-age” stats that are helping people understand sports and the games that we love to watch. Ability to stay flexible, to accept change, and to always crave to improve is critical to be a successful handicapper in the long-term. I feel that my handicapping style fits in very well with an ever-changing sports-betting environment and thus I feel I’m the type of a sports-bettor that has the ability to succeed for many years to come.
Best Sports
I primarily specialize in professional sports like NFL, NBA, and MLB. This is due to the magnitude of advanced statistics that these sports have available as well as being my favorite sports to watch. NHL, Soccer, College Football, and College Basketball are just getting into the ‘advanced stats’ revolution, but they’re just not there yet.
Written Analysis Style: Typically I provide a concrete and to the point analysis surrounding my best bets. I don’t bog it down with useless trends or confusing unrelated data, just focus on the facts.
Pick Release Timing: Typically picks will be released early in the morning on the weekdays and overnight/early morning on weekends.
Motto:
Whether you prefer rare, medium, or well done, VegasButcher delivers great plays every time!
Relationship With Followers
I think it’s very important for the customer to be comfortable with the handicapper that they invest their hard-earned money into. I’d like to be that handicapper. Every true professional handicapper works hard, has the best intentions in mind, and wants to be a long-term winner. But not every professional handicapper has the ability to decipher a game and/or particular matchup in a detailed manner. I believe that I DO have that ability. I love analyzing sports, projecting teams’ game plans, and deciphering advanced statistical models. I believe that’s where the ‘edge’ comes from in beating the bookmakers on a consistent basis. I promise to always be available to my customers when they have questions and concerns, and to always behave in the most professional and respectful manner. My goal is to build strong long-term relationships at Pregame.com, relationships built on trust, honesty, transparency, and most importantly, on long-term results. Thank you to everyone who is willing to invest in me, and I’ll do everything in my power to ensure that you are not disappointed. I feel honored to join the Pregame family.
