In the world of the stock market there is a concept called value investing that I think if applied correctly to sports betting could be very profitable. Value investing basically means buying stocks at less than their intrinsic value. Benjamin Graham is credited as the original value investor with the most famous value investor being Warren Buffett. Speaking of Buffett, the fund's mentality can pretty much be summed up by one of his famous quotes: "There seems to be some perverse human characteristic that likes to make easy things difficult."
I will use this thread to post the fund's selections (aka "portfolio picks") and track its performance, as well as enter every pick into Pregame's grading system.
*Update: In response to some questions I have been getting I would like to clarify that the fund won't just be blindly betting bad teams/fading good ones (this is a common misconception about value investing) but rather will be looking for reasons that teams are trading at a discount relative to their intrinsic value. It makes sense to 'scan the 52 weeks lows' for potential value candidates however there will be many times when the fund has a favorite in its portfolio.
DEEP VALUE FUND LIFETIME PERFORMANCE: -4.00 UNITS
(The fund uses a 1-3 unit scale. All selections 2 units unless otherwise noted.)
*Note: We can also short teams who have become too expensive/overvalued.
