I almost pulled the Clemson trigger at +7 but thought better of it given Bama's insanely consistent proclivity toward defensive and specs scores; some of which is luck, most of which is men vs. boys.
Speaking of men vs. boys, Bama's 2016 "D" feasted on a slate of mediocre at very best QBs, the most recent being the most overrated QB in the land...Washington's Jake Browning. In that game, UW started a grossly undersized true frosh right guard making his 4th start who was utterly dominated which added to UW's offensive ineptitude.
The Tide D goes from facing deer in the headlights Browning to Watson, the best player in college football who is no stranger to the national spotlight. All the while Clemson's defense has given up 36, 34, 42, and 35 this year when stepping up in regular season class.
My point is that while Bama's D is undoubtedly elite, their annihilation of Washington's offense in concert with Clemson's shutout vs. an overrated Buckeye offense provides value on the "over" which I grabbed at 50.
Fly in the ointment may be the ever toxic Sark, but even he can't perform any worse than Kiffin did last week.
