Monday December 12th
South Carolina / Seton Hall Under 136 -108 (1.62u / 1.5u)
-Frank Martin has the Gamecocks playing some tenacious Defence and I expect that to continue tonight at the Garden vs. Seton Hall. The Gamecocks are holing opponents to 55.5 ppg. They rank in the top 5 in multiple categories in terms of defensive efficiency. To make an even stronger case for the under, Sindarious Thornwell, the leading scorer for South Carolina (25% of their ppg) is out for this game due to a suspension. Seton Hall returns from a trip to Hawaii where they played a couple of grinders against Hawaii and Cal. They could be a bit sluggish here. Seton Hall has the upper-hand in terms of familiarity with this setting (Big East tournament, home town kids). However, they will be tested here against the best defence they have faced to this point. Add on the fact that they are a dreadful 61% from the FT line, I think this game sets up for an ugly grinder where the winning team struggles to break 65 points.
Penn / Central Florida Under 131 -108 (1.08u / 1u)
-UCF’s defensive numbers are eye popping, they even held Villanova to 67 points. With some tough guards and the massive Taco Fall guarding the paint, its very difficult get in sync offensively against this team. I could see UCF holding Penn to under 55 in this contest without question. Sophomore guard BJ Taylor (UCFs leading scorer) will be out for this game and that will slow down an already slow paced, gritty offence. This has all the makings of an ugly low scoring game that stays in the 120’s or less.
