Hey guys,
I've just joined the Fantasy Feud team, and been in the business for a while now. I wanted to give you some good rules of thumb when picking your lineups for daily fantasy baseball. These are things that I look for on a daily basis to help me win.
Selecting Starting Pitchers
Look for strikeout pitchers vs. weak hitting teams or teams that strike out a lot. Make sure to look at how the team batting is vs that particular handed pitcher. So if Matt Harvey is going vs. the Nationals, look at how the Nationals as team hit vs. RHP.
Stats that are important are K% and wOBA. (Weighted on base) Those are the two stats I look at the most.
Its also helpful if the starting pitcher is in a pitchers park and going against a weak starting pitcher, as you get 3 pts for the W.
You want to minimize the number of hits/walks/earned runs a pitcher can potentially allow.
Selecting Hitters
1)Never take a left handed batter vs. a left handed pitcher. The stats are so overwhelming against this scenario, even if its David Ortiz against a guy like Joe Saunders. I never break this rule.
2)Limit the number of right handed batters. vs. a right handed pitcher. While not as dramatic as lefty/lefty, its still a disadvantage you want to reduce. Some hitters are just better vs. righties, so you need to identify those.
Adrian Beltre is a hitter that is split indifferent, he hits about the same vs RHP and LHP.
3)Lineup spot means something especially when trying to find value. I rarely will take a hitter in the 789 hole. Players hitting at the top of the lineup will get at least 1 more at bat per game and be in position to get more runs scored, stolen bases, and / or RBI.
4)Save money at weak hitting positions...Catcher, shortstop, and 1 OF slot. With Feud, you have 2 utility spots to fill, so finding value is key. Look for catchers and shortstops that are in nice platoon situations that day so you can save money.
Hope this helps and I will be back to give you some more strategies you can carry each day.
Cheers
