Analysis

We are going against the public once again and taking the home underdog Giants who are 15-5 in their last twenty underdog roles. Eight of the last nine game one winners have gone on to win the World title. Giants starting left hander Nolan Bumgarner was 10-5 with a 3.00 ERA at home this season, and under the big lights at night, put up an 11-4 record with a 2.66 ERA. If there was one weak spot to the Tigers hitting lineup, it is left handed pitching as they hit 21 points lower than righties for the year, and only hit .241 against left handers on the road this season. Six foot eight right hander Doug Fister was 10-10 on the year but only 4-7 with a 3.43 ERA on the road. Fister has not pitched for almost two weeks, since giving up six hits over six and two thirds scoreless innings in the ALCS opener. Rust seemed to be a problem in game one for most of the Tigers, we will see if it effected additional starting pitchers. We will take the Giants to continue their post-season success as their starting pitchers as a whole have given up a total of two runs over the last 26 innings, over the last four games.
