If we boil this down to it's simplest form (And I'll have to do this today). We have a -2 in a war of attrition, and in this particular war, we're going to back the offense that smashed this Spartan team last season. The score of the last meeting is a bit squewed. Two of State's scores came in garbage time. The game was 38-17 with 12 minutes left in the 4th, and Sparty was whipped.
Wisconsin ran the ball 50 times and they were 11-18 on third down.
We can play the "last year" card all day, because the same offense is back on the field today, and these guys are a year older, and they won't come into this game in a daze.
I've seen the film and Sparty is the most overrated team in the Big 10....AGAIN.
Did you know that Florida Atlantic had 20 first downs against that MSU defense?
Did you know that Florida Atlantic held the ball for almost 40 minutes against that MSU defense?
We're talking about Florida ATL!
Notre Dame had 28 first downs VS Sparty and they almost reached 500 yards.
Did you guys know that MSU is allowing a 40% 3rd down percentage to its 2010 opponents?
Wisconsin allows 27%.
Is it too much to ask if we can stamp a 25 first down...450 yard day on Sparty's forehead? It's not impossible, in fact, it's expected.
This line would be more competatively placed at -5, so we'll simply grab this -2 and take it to the window this afternoon.
People keep touting the MSU running game, but they generated a ton of their yard on the edges and on counter plays. This is what Bigger teams do to smaller teams like Western Michigan and Florida Atlantic. You can seal the edges at will and simply beat the corner in space!
This doesn't happen aganst team with HUGE defensive ends. Spart was not having success running the ball up the middle against Western, and I'm not expecting them to get a better look at a VERY stout Wisky defense.
Sorry for the short writeup but we'll bury this Spartan defense by the 4th...look for a decent game until the last 18 minutes...The massive Wisky O-line will force that Spartan front seven to play a full game in 3 quarters!
