New
York Jets -3
When not adjusting for home-field edge, I have the Jets at
-6 in this one. While Giants are technically
the ‘home team’, that’s in name alone for this one. G-Men are coming off two very stout defensive
efforts, holding their last two opponents (BUF and WAS) to 21 combined points. Hard to keep that level of intensity up. Neither Buffalo nor Washington are known to
have strong running-games though. But
against teams that do – Arizona, 49ers, Seattle, Miami – the Giants really
struggled, getting absolutely dominated and barely going 1-3 in those contests
(should have lost to the Cardinals). The
Jets rank 3rd in the league in yards per attempt rushing, right
below Miami and Arizona. Coming off a
BYE week, expect them to run the ball early and often. In addition, the Jets is getting both of
their starting CB’s back, as both missed the last game. It pains me to say this, but I trust this
Jets offense much more than the Giants to have some success in this one. I’m sure it’ll be a slugfest, and I’m sure it’s
going to be ugly…but the Jets have enough factors in their favor (better run-O,
fresh off a BYE, better defense) in addition to line-value that makes this one
my favorite play of the weekend.
Best of Luck.
