WVU -1.5
This should be an ugly game. Maryland comes limping into the tournament, having gone 3-4 in their last 7. Two of those wins came against Minnesota, so they barely count. WVU hasn’t lost to a team not called Kansas since February 16th, though they profile kind of like a Big Ten team in that they are super reliant on their home floor.
Maryland has been a disaster away from home, with their only win in conference on the road coming over Minnesota. Maryland has a ton of experience, but they don’t have an edge there with WVU starting 5 seniors here.
Bob Huggins has a big coaching edge, as Kevin Willard has gone 1-4 in the first round, and maybe with more talented teams than he has here. Maryland isn’t a bad rebounding team, but the Eers will still have an edge there.
I certainly weight conference heavy in this matchup. WVU was 7-11 in conference this season, but playing in the Big 12 has really prepped them for this spot.
