Chicago Bears +1
I’ve
heard that last year when Matt Eberflus was the DC for the Colts, he was asked
to have the defense dial it back a bit in practice, so that Carson Wentz could
actually “practice” with the offense.
Now, I don’t know how much truth is to that rumor, but I think it’s an
important factor here as Eberflus literally spent all of last year with Wentz
and knows the QB and his tendencies very well.
Furthermore, we have a situation in Washington where the coach has clearly
thrown Wentz under the bus after last week’s game when asked to explain the
difference between Washington’s play and the rest of the divisional
opponents. Sure Rivera backpedaled as
best as he could, but it was pretty clear what he meant with his comment. Neither one of these QB’s is playing ‘great’
of course, but the Bears are at home on a short week, they have a better
rushing attack, and most importantly, they’re undervalued at this number. I think they are the better team in this
matchup and when you add up all the additional factors in their favor, I think
the home dog is a clear play in this one.
