1st 5 Inning
I like the Phillies for the 1st 5 Innings in this spot on Thursday night. The Braves hand the ball to Ian Anderson & he has been hit hard over the last month. In his 5 June starts: 5.04 .ERA, a very high 1.69 WHIP, & just a 2/1 K/BB ratio. Several key Braves have had good succes vs Anderson. The Phillies hand the ball to Nola and he's simply pitching the best ball of the season right now. Over Nola's L/4 starts: 30 IP, 3 ER, 0.90 .ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and a absurd 30/3 K/BB ratio with zero HR's allowed. Nola did go 8 1/3 Innings and allowed just 1 run on 5 hits w/10K's and zero BB in his lone starts vs the Braves this season. I also like th fact that over Nola's career he does his best work at his HOME park. Both teams are most potent vs LH pitching so no edge there as both clubs are facing a RH starter. The bottom line for me here is that I see a big edge SP wise here with Nola & I expect the Phillies to get to Anderson eventually and in turn I expect another very strong outing from Nola and to limit these Braves. I'm taking the bullpen edge that the Braves have out of the equation here and I'm playing the Phillies on the money-line for the 1st 5 Innings.
