The 49ers made a philosophical change to their offense, mostly due to the fact that Jimmy G is not 100% healthy. San Fran turned into a dink and dunk, yards after the catch offense, refusing to threaten the Rams down the field. Jimmy Garoppolo had 268 passing yards Sunday, 229 yards were after the catch. Garoppolo's 23 completions were thrown an average of 1.8 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.
San Francisco is potentially missing three offensive line starters in this game, as well as RB Raheem Mostert. TE George Kittle is facing a tight end defense that held down Travis Kelce, Darren Waller, and Mike Gesicki earlier this season and is known for erasing the opposing teams number one pass catcher.
New England's offense lacks explosiveness as well. The way to attack this 49ers defense is through the air against their weak corners, but the Patriots do not have the weapons to expose that weakness. San Fran has remained stout up front, allowing only 3.4 YPC to opposing running backs, and the Patriots are also dealing with potential offensive line injuries/corona related absences.
The Patriots are very familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of Jimmy G's game. The Patriots have also been a dead nuts under team over the last two seasons (9-13 to the under).
Two offenses lacking explosiveness and dealing with injuries to the offensive sides of the ball, we go UNDER!
