Vargas is in an amazing streak of quality starts and he is just coming from a complete game against SF: 9.0 IP, 5H, 0ER, 8/1 K/BB. I understand that we are talking about the stinky SF offense, but Vargas dominated the Dodgers in his previous start as well. He threw 117 pitches to complete the game but fortunately, he has one extra day of rest after yesterday’s game as it was postponed. Note that NYY offense has been subpar vs. LHP’s lately w/ just 81 wRC+ & 29.4%K rate.

On the other end, the #7 best offense vs LHP’s in L30 days are facing tonight James Paxton who has been inconsistent since coming off the DL. He was good vs. SD but he struggled in his last start @TOR (slumping offense). I think it’s worth to take a chance with NYM in here in the first 5IP’s as I don’t want to have anything around NYM’s bullpen late in a game
