As my long term clients know full and well I am a life long Cards fan. The fact is there is actually a book published titled for Cardinal fans only that has a story in it by me. It is by the sports author Rich Wolfe, so there it is. There are no more devoted Cardinal fans out there than yours truly. Fact. BUT, as my clients know whether it is the Cardinals or my beloved Packers when it comes to business, cold hard business, I have the heart of a cold blooded assassin. Stark difference between fan emotion and business. Bottom line here is I do not trust the Cards. I am as anti Cubs as it gets. Carlos Martinez has not been returning to form or anywhere close. The velocity is there but his command has been awful. The Cubs are swinging hot bats as evidenced last night in the 13-5 beatdown at Busch. Yes, Hendricks has had his ups and downs this season but I know long term he has been rock solid against the arch rival Cards. Been painfully clear to me too many occasions. He has won his last four starts against the Cards and that does nothing to prop up my confidence in my Cardinals here. St Louis looks really mediocre right now. Typically this could be looked at as a flat spot off that ass kicking Friday night but there are no let downs when these two clubs meet up. Cubs have been strong on the road winning nine of the last twelve away from Wrigley and I am taking them big here. Obviously.
Okay, we have won 8 of the last 11 featured releases. Not 11 of 11. It's baseball guys. Martinez could find it and fire a gem Saturday night. Trust me he is capable. But I am not buying it. I am going large here with the, gulp, Cubs.
Many sincere thanks as always and best of luck to each of us. Enjoy the game.
