I follow the Royals and Cardinals closer than any other clubs. Over the years I have had solid success picking my spots with going either with or against. This year with the Royals I have been on the right side in seven of the ten I've played. The Kansas City Royals are a classic example of how quickly things can turn in professional sports. It has not been long at all that the Royals appeared in two straight world series and indeed did capture a championship. And here we are and they are already in the division basement and have won a pitiful five ball games year to date. Kind of sad. Sports talk radio in the Kansas City market is pretty much apathetic. GM Dayton Moore has his work cut out for him. Might be the biggest understatement of the year. Of course the weakest of the weak links in the bullpen. It is possibly the worst pen in the major leagues. And that is saying a lot. Of course it is one game in a 162 game season and anything can happen but this team has all the momentum of a circus elephant lumbering around the ring. The Brewers are one of the more improved teams of the young season and appear to me to have the legs to compete into September. The Brew crew are presently tied for the top of the NL central with the Cardinals. They are also a solid 6-3 on the road. I do not typically look hard at Davies laying chalk but the stubborn fact is the Royals are a borderline inept 1-10 in their last eleven games stepping in against right handed starters. Kennedy got rocked last time out in Toronto but actually has been solid other than that. Problem is nobody pitches complete games any more and I certainly don't look for it from Kennedy. At best maybe six or even high side seven and then the carnival music can start as Ned Yost will inevitably wave to the pen. Brewers have been rolling along winning a half dozen straight games and I just cannot find a logical reason to support a play on the Royals here. Unless Davies is just trash and that is hard to envision against this Royals line up I say the price here is actually pretty good. Even for a road favorite. I am going Triple here on the Brewers to capture their seventh straight winner.
