How far the Giants have fallen is reflected in this pointspread.  The Giants are double digit home underdogs for the just the third time in the past 25 years with the most recent being the final game of the 2007 season when they covered against then 15-0 New England, whom they defeated a little more than a month later in the Super Bowl.  They also covered in the other two such instances in 2004 and 1998.  Kansas City returns from its Bye and coach Andy Reid has a long history of success following Bye weeks.  This game comes down to the mindset of the Giants.  If indeed they have quite on the coach, the season and themselves – as they seemed to show the past two weeks – the Chiefs could win by 40.  If they summon up some pride, especially on defense, there’s enough room for a cover even in a defeat.  The natural inclination is to back the Chiefs who are battling for the top seed in the AFC.  But there clearly has been too much compensation in this line for the Giants’ recent play.  Still, Kansas City will be satisfied with a win by any margin and the Giants do have the talent, if not the coaching or desire, to put forth a competitive effort as they did in their games prior to the last two weeks.  But rather than back the Giants, let's play the OVER.  Surprisingly, Kansas City's defensive stats are below average, as are the Giants.  Unlike past seasons, the 2017 Chiefs have big play capability and have taken, at times, an aggressive approach to offense.  The Giants have gone OVER in 5 of their 9 games this season while the Chiefs have gone OVER in 6 of 9.  Both teams are allowing 6.0 yards per play, rankiing #29 and 30 in that category.  KC is averaging 6.2 yards per play on offense which leads the NFL.  The Giants are somewhat below average at 5.0 ypp but, again, they are facing a permissive defense.  Look for both teams to reach at least the low to mid twneties which would be enough for this game to safely go OVER the Total.
