I'm backing the NY Mets on Sunday night. Noah Syndergaard has been nothing short of terrific since becoming a regular in the Mets' rotation. And like his team he saves his very best for the home folks. The Mets are 37-18 at Citi Field and they're 6-1 when the 22-year old righty toes the home rubber. Syndergaard will start tonight's contest with a sizzling 1.46 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and .190 BAA in seven home starts, while punching out 51 batters and walking just six in 49 1/3 IP. I went against Washington hurler Jordan Zimmermann in his last start and we cashed when the Marlins beat the Nats, 4-1. Zimmerman has struggled on the road with a 4.65 ERA & 1.51 WHIP in nine starts. I recently mentioned we can't cap the Mets' offense like we did just over a week ago. The acquisitions made before the trade deadline, including Juan Uribe, Kelly Johnson, and Yoenis Cespedes have and will pay dividends at the plate. Uribe and Johnson came up big as soon as they arrived a week ago, and we expect Cespedes to come through sooner than later. New York enters on a 47-12 run as home chalk and they have won four straight Syndergaard home starts. The Nats have won just 18 of their last 56 as a road dog up to +150 and they're on a 2-7 slide with Zimmermann listed as a road dog. I'm backing the NY Mets, my Sunday Night Knockout. Thanks & GL!
