The Navy Midshipmen are slated to meet the Arizona State Sun Devils in the 2012 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Saturday, December 29 at AT&T Park in San Francisco; the game, which is scheduled to kick off at 4:00pm ET, will be broadcast live on ESPN2. The Navy Midshipmen still have one more regular season game in the offing as they face Army this Saturday, December 8th at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; however, the Middies have already locked up a postseason spot at 7-4.
Navy postseason future looked cloudy at best after its 1-3 start, but the team has been nearly unbeatable since a 12-0 loss at San Jose State on September 29th, posting a 6-1 record in its last seven games.
Despite the Midshipmen’s recent prowess, they are getting 14.5 points against the Sun Devils. Arizona State does possess solid offensive and defensive units (36.4 ppg and 24 ppga averages), and, presumably, with more time to prepare it will be ready for the challenges of Navy’s option offense.
The Sun Devils are also rounding back into form after a grueling 0-4 stretch that featured losses to Oregon, UCLA, Oregon State, and USC. They rebounded from that slide by beating Washington State 46-7 and Arizona 41-34 in their final two regular season games.
