2013 NFL Preseason Kansas City Chiefs vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to butt head on Saturday night at Heinz Field in the Steel City. Kickoff in this weekend's 2013 NFL Preseason showdown between the Chiefs and Steelers is set for 7:30pm ET. NFL Picks from 5Dimes are favoring Pittsburgh at -1.5 against the spread and -140 on the money line ($140 wins $100). Kansas City is drawing +120 odds to get its first win under new head coach Andy Reid while the game total is set at 40 points.

The Chiefs new look offense has produced all of 26 points in two preseason outings, but the poor numbers can mostly be attributed to struggles from the team's second and third string units.

Kansas City scored 10 first quarter points in its opener against New Orleans as Alex Smith completed 7-of-8 passes for 68 yards and it led 10-3 at the end of the first frame in last week's meeting with the 49ers.

The Chiefs should show a little more pop on Saturday with its starting unit ready to play into the second half. However, KC's biggest offensive weapon, running back Jamaal Charles, may not play against the Steelers. Charles missed the San Francisco game after suffering a foot sprain during practice. He returned to practice this week, but Reid may use a 'better safe than sorry' approach with his star player.

The Steelers offense has also looked suspect, cranking out the same number of points as Kansas City in its first two preseason games. Even worse, though, its starting unit has scored all of three points.

Ben Roethlisberger has yet to get going, completing 9-of-14 passes for 106 yards and an interception and his backups have not performed much better. As a result, the Steelers amassed just 30 first downs and 518 yards in losses to the Giants and Redskins.

Pittsburgh may be ready to burst out of its shell too, though. Prior to this year, Mike Tomlin has been an exceptional preseason coach with the Steelers going 19-6 (15-10 ATS) on his watch. It is safe to assume Tomlin will get a more spirited effort from his squad on Saturday, especially with his starters getting extended playing time.

Kansas City Chiefs +1.5 (+105), Over 40 (-110), +120 (Moneyline)
