The Golden State Warriors will attempt to avoid a 0-2 series hole tonight when they square off against the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Tip off in this evening’s Game 2 meeting is set for 10:30pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on TNT. 2013 NBA Playoff Picks have the Nuggets listed as a -8 against the spread and -420 moneyline favorite. The Over/Under is set at 208 points and the Warriors are drawing +330 odds to even the series at 1-1.
Golden State turned in a far better Game 1 effort than most thought it would, but, ultimately, the night ended badly for Mark Jackson’s squad. The Warriors were thwarted 97-95 thanks to a last second layup by the Nuggets Andre Miller and they lost All-Star forward David Lee for the remainder of the playoffs to a torn hip flexor muscle.
Lee was one of two Golden State players (reserve guard Jarrett Jack) to finish with a double-double in the loss as he collected 10 points and 14 rebounds before exiting the game for good. Klay Thompson led the Warriors, who shot just 41.3 percent as a team, with 22 points; Stephen Curry added 19, but he missed on 13 of his 20 field goal attempts.
The Nuggets, who were out-rebounded 45 to 55 and hit on just 3-of-16 from beyond the arc, were led by the aforementioned Miller. Miller tallied 28 points in 27 minutes off the bench; he was one of five Denver players to score in double figures (
Ty Lawson, Wilson Chandler, Evan Fournier, Corey Brewer).
The Nuggets victory marked their fifth win in their last five meetings with the Warriors. Denver, which improved to 39-3 at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, is also 5-1 in its last six home games against Golden State, defeating the Warriors by an average of 17.2 points per game.
Notable Trend(s): The Warriors are 1-8 straight up but 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games as a road dog in the month of April.
2013 NBA Playoff Picks Warriors vs Nuggets Game 2:
Golden State Warriors +8 (-110), Over 208 (-110), +330 (Moneyline)
Denver Nuggets -8 (-110), Under 208 (-110), -420 (Moneyline)
