Major League Baseball Betting Odds Houston Astros vs Baltimore Orioles Free Pick

Tuesday night baseball and we will see the Houston Astros and the Baltimore Orioles do battle at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 7:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Astros                -101
Orioles               -109

Over/ Under: 9 U -125

This is game 2 of a 3 game series between these American League foes. The Astros continue to be the surprise of the baseball season thus far as they come in the 3rd best record in baseball and lead the AL West by 5.5 games over the Angels. The Orioles have been inconsistent this year and are 20-22 overall, but they have played well at home where they are 14-9 on the year. Houston ranks 9th in scoring (4.46 rpg), while on the mound they are 7th in ERA (3.58). Baltimore ranks 10th in scoring (4.43 rpg), while on the mound they are 16th in ERA (3.98).

Trends for this game include: The Astros are 16-5 in their last 21 games as an underdog and 16-5 in their last 21 games vs. a right-handed starter, but just 3-14 in Feldman's last 17 road starts. The Orioles have gone 38-15 in their last 53 home games vs. a right-handed starter and 20-7 in Tillman's last 27 home starts vs. a team with a winning record, but just 1-6 in his last 7 starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

Getting the ball for Houston today will be Scott Feldman, who has gone 3-4 with a 5.17 ERA on the year, while on the road he is 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA so far. Scott has gone 4-2 with a 4.85 ERA in 14 games (8 starts) in his career vs the O's, while at Camden Yards he has gone 7-4 with a 4.57 ERA in 17 games (13 starts).

Getting the ball for the Orioles today will be Chris Tillman, who has struggled this year going 2-5 with a 6.10 ERA overall, while at home he is 0-3 with a 6.98 ERA. Chris is 2-1 with a 2.41 ERA in 3 career starts vs the Astros.

Pick: I will go with the Orioles in this one. The Astros have had issues in this park as they are just 2-11 in their last 13 games played here and they are just 3-13 in Feldman's last 17 road starts. The Orioles have not had a great start to the year, but they are not that far out of first in the AL East and I just can't see the Astros continuing their +.600 ball they have been playing this year. They score some runs, but they are still one of the worst hitting teams in the league and eventually that will catch up with them. The O's have been dominant at home in this series and I see that continuing here.

MovieSell the New York Mets--Most Overrated Team in MLB?
Professional handicapper Teddy Covers talks about why the sharps in Vegas are turning on the MLB's New York Mets even though their performance so far this 2015 season seems to indicate they aren't that bad. Teddy points out that even with "stud" players like Matt Harvey and Jon Nies are clouding where the Mets are underperforming--the slash line (team batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage). Pro bettor Steve Fezzik agrees that he is not keen on the Mets and compares the quality of their batters to that of sitcom star and Mets fan Kevin James. So, while the odds may be in their favor, Vegas says these guys are a team to bet against.
