Sunday Major League Baseball Betting Odds Boston Red Sox vs Seattle Mariners Free Pick

Sunday afternoon major league baseball and we will see the Boston Red Sox travel to Safeco Field to take on the Seattle MarinersFree pick to follow First pitch is scheduled for a 4:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Boston                +142
Seattle                 -152

Over/ Under: 8 -110

This is game 4 of a 4 game series between these American League foes. The Boston Red Sox got a big win last night vs King Felix, who has been nearly lights out this year. The Sox have now won 5 of their last 7 games and their pitching is starting to come around as they have allowed a total of 5 runs in their last 4 games. The Red Sox have now gone 18-19 overall and 11-10 on the road, while Seattle has gone 16-20 overall and 10-10 at home. Boston ranks 18th in the league in scoring (4.08 rpg), while on the mound they are 27th in ERA (4.64). The Mariners rank 27th in scoring (3.75 rpg), while on the mound they are 13th in ERA (3.88).

Trends for this game include: Boston has gone 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog of +110 to +150, but just  7-16 in their last 23 road games vs. a left-handed starter and 1-6 in their last 7 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The Mariners have gone 24-11 in their last 35 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game and 8-2 in Paxton's last 10 starts when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game, but just 5-16 in their last 21 during game 4 of a series.

Taking the hill for Boston today will be Steven Wright, who will be making his first start of the year. This will be his 3rd start ever in the majors and he went 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in his other two starts. He has faced the Mariners twice out of the pen in his career and he is 2-0 with an 0.00 ERA in those 2 appearances.

Getting the ball for the Mariners tonight will be James Paxton who is 1-2 with a 4.80 ERA n the year. He has pitched better of late as he is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his last 3 starts. James has never face the Red Sox yet in his career.

Pick: I will be going with the Under for the 4th time in the last 4 games between these teams. The first two games saw some bad pitching on the mound, especially fron the Boston side and the teams scored just 3 runs each in the 2 games. Last night saw the best pitching matchup and still just 6 runs were scored. Both offenses have really struggled of late as the Sox have averaged 2.5 rpg in their last 11 games, while the Mariners have scored just 7 total runs in the first 3 games of this series and that is vs the 3rd worst staff in the league. This offense is struggling and should not get much going vs Steven wright, who has looked sharp on the mound this year and who through 8.2 scoreless innings at the Mariners last year in 2 relief appearances. James Paxton got off to a rough start but he is settling down now, posting a 1.80 ERA in his last 3 starts, plus we not that the Sox are hitting just .193 vs lefties on the year. This one should be another low scoring game.
