Monday night college Basketball and we will see the Louisville Cardinals travel to McCamish Pavilion to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current Vegas betting odds have Louisville listed as 6 point favorites, while the total is set at 125.5.
Analysis: The Louisville Cardinals come in off a hard fought 55-53 home win over Miami, which snapped their 2 game losing streak. The win now has Louisville at 21-6 overall and 9-5 in the ACC, while going 5-3 on the road so far. The Cardinals have gone 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 Monday games, but just 5-11-2 ATS in their last 18 games following a S.U. win. Louisville has been a good offensive team, as they come in ranked 100th in scoring (70.5 ppg), 204th in shooting (43.0%), 314th in 3 point shooting (30.4%) and 249th in FT shooting (66.9%). Defensively the Cardinals have been excellent, ranking 22nd in points allowed (59.1 ppg),11th in defensive FG% (37.9%) and 13th in 3 point defense (29.2%).
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have not had a very good year in the ACC as they come in with a 3-12 record, that includes a 29 point road loss at North Carolina on Saturday. Overall the Jackets are just 12-15 on the season, including posting a 7-6 mark at home. Georgia Tech has gone 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 18-8-1 ATS in their last 27 games following a ATS loss. The Jackets have not been a very good offensive team this year, ranking 261st in scoring (64.2 ppg), 277th in shooting (41.3%), 343rd in 3 point shooting (28.1%) and 279th in FT shooting (66.0%). Defensively the Jackets have been decent this year, ranking 120th in points allowed (64.2 ppg), 213th in defensive FG% (43.6%) and 54th in 3 point defense (31.4%).
Pick: Going with the Under here. Georgia Tech is not a team that will speed up the game and even when they try and score it isn't a whole lot as they are a terrible shooting team. That will not improve tonight vs a Louisville defense that has allowed just 59.1 ppg on 39.7% shooting for the year overall and just 60.8 ppg on 40% shooting in their last 5 games. Louisville does average 70 ppg, but they are not a good shooting team (43%) and Georgia Tech has played solid defense at home where they have allowed just 60.2 ppg on 40% shooting. Both teams are horrible from long range and at the charity stripe, so not a lot of extra points in those two areas. The Under is 6-1 in Louisville's last 7 vs the ACC and 12-3 in Georgia Tech's last 15 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. Two bad shooting teams vs good defenses in a slow paced game should keep this one at 118 points or less.
