The Charger offense has really been conservative this year and will be without Allen and Mathews, plus we note that Rivers may not be 100% as he has missed practice time all week. Now having an offense that is not at full strength is not good when you are about to face the 3rd ranked defense in the league. For the year the Niners have allowed 20.4 ppg and 307.1 ypg, while at home they have given up just 246.5 ypg and 18.5 ppg. The offense for the Niners has been challenged all year as they just don't know their identity. This is a power running team, but for some reason they feel that passing the ball is the way to go. That has really lead to inconsistency on the offense as they come in having scored just 17.0 ppg overall, 16.3 ppg at home and 15.8 ppg on grass fields. They will take on a Chargers defense that will need to shoulder the load for this team today and that has been solid for the most part this year. The Chargers have scored just 18.3 ppg in their last 3 road games, while the Niners have scored just 10 ppg in their last 3 at home and we note that their last 3 home games have put up just 25 combined ppg. This clearly has the feel of a 17-14 type game.
